OPERATIONS

Operations is the most varied department on the ship. Crew members get all the odds-and-ends positions that don't really fit any place else. They work very closely with other departments and, as a result, some of these functions overlap.

The most prominent position in the department is YEOMAN. YEOMEN are the Great Bird's Representatives on this mortal plane sent to help us deal with the 30 kilograms of paperwork Starfleet requires from each department. Those who don't want to be strangled with red tape treat the Yeomen with respect. In addition to other departments, Yeomen are assigned to the Captain and to landing parties.

Operations includes PILOTS who operate shuttlecraft and in a pinch, the ship. NAVIGATORS plot the ship’s course and monitors obstacles in the ship's path. HELM CONTROL personnel fly the ship. The senior HELMS OFFICER is also a member of the COMMAND department.

Operations also coordinates the work of the following people:

FABRICATIONS SPECIALISTS: create uniforms and native clothing for the crew.

COOKS: prepare food for various metabolisms

SUPPLY OFFICERS: order supplies and keep the Ship's Store well stocked

RECORDS OFFICERS: maintain flight recorders, captain's logs, and other ship's logs

PERSONNEL OFFICERS: record and maintain records on each crew member including vacation time, sick leave, promotions, demotions, etc.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMERS: design, program, and maintain various programs for different departments including Recreation.

LIBRARIANS: collect, file, and maintain research and recreational literature

Keeping the ship running smoothly is the job of Operations. Recruits are badly needed.
