Burial Ceremony

It is forbidden for aliens to view a Cardassian corpse. Cardassians bury their dead and then conduct a memorial with chants for the departed.

Emergence Ceremony

When a student completes the 9 years of schooling at his Institute, a ceremony is held at the school. This also represents passage into adulthood.

Gul Minok Celebration

On the eve of the day when Gul Minok defeated the Samurian Invaders, Cardassians begin the longest period of festivities in the year.

Founding of the Union

Cardassians honor the day Tret Akleen founded the modern Union some centuries before. It was ironic that on this day of remembrance, the popular vote was conducted, by the people to decide between the "party" that wanted to go back to the old days and the "party" that wanted to move forward with democracy.

Shiri-tal

Cardassian Tradition of passing on closely-guarded secrets from the dying to the family for use against their enemies. These secrets can be anything from forged alliances to plots against others.

Oralian Way Ritual

Worship generally begins with leaders adorning recitation masks which symbolically transform the wearer into Oralius, one will chant:

The power that moves through me, Animates my life, Animates the mask of Oralius, To speak her words with my voice, To think her thoughts with my mind, To feel her love with my heart, It is the song of morning, Opening up to life, Bringing truth of her wisdom, To those who live in the shadow of the night.

To which the second will reply:

It is this selfsame power, Turned against creation, Turned against my friend, That can destroy his body with my hand, Reduce his spirit with my hate, Separate his presence from my home: To live without Oralius, Lighting our way to the source, Connecting us to the mystery, Is to live without the tendrils of love.

Following the opening the meetings are filled with humming, chanting, recitations and readings from the Hebitian Records and finally meditation.
